About the Program
By 2025, 60 million baby boomers will exit the workforce, leaving a gigantic gap in talent, with only 40 million millennials ready to take their place. Along with this loss of highly skilled individuals, trends of training budget cuts and accelerating technology development are creating a concerning outlook for the future of supply chain talent. With an ambitious introductory goal of reaching more than 100K students through the Supply Chain STEM Education Outreach Program by 2020, APICS, with the help of educators and volunteers, is committed to overcoming the global supply chain talent gap. The Supply Chain STEM Program is a new educational offering from APICS, focused on presenting supply chain management and STEM careers as viable options to today’s K-12 youth and to eliminate the supply chain talent gap. How to Get Involved
Each hands-on, interactive activity teaches students about key science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts and how they factor into the supply chain. APICS provides the tools and resources to deliver the program, but educators and volunteers are the key to the success of the outreach program. The activities will be lead but adults in a variety of settings: schools, social organizations, clubs, and community programs.
